Your data, plainly

KerenLabs is an app and software studio based in Manchester, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here. If you have any question about this policy or your data, email us at info@kerenlabs.com.

When you contact us. The contact form asks for your name, email address, optional phone number, the kind of project and your message. We use this to reply to you and, if you want to go ahead, to scope and quote your project. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.

When you browse, if you allow analytics. We record which pages you visit, which buttons you click, roughly where you are (country or city level), your device and browser, and how you arrived. If you have accepted analytics, what you send through the contact form is also recorded in PostHog so we can see which pages lead to enquiries. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

We don't sell your data, use it for advertising or make automated decisions about you.

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We only use one strictly necessary item, which remembers your cookie choice. Analytics cookies stay off unless you click Accept on our banner.

You can change your mind whenever you like. Open cookie settings. Rejecting after accepting deletes our analytics cookies. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser settings.

We use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf and only as we instruct:

• Netlify, which hosts this website and delivers contact form submissions to our inbox.
• Our database and file storage providers, where enquiries and site content are kept.
• PostHog, for analytics, using its EU data centre.
• Google, for Google Analytics.

Some of these providers are based in, or may access data from, the United States. Where data leaves the UK, it is protected by the UK Extension to the EU US Data Privacy Framework or by the International Data Transfer Addendum to standard contractual clauses.

We keep enquiries for as long as we need to respond and, if we work together, for the length of the project and any period the law requires for business records. Enquiries that don't lead to work are deleted once they are no longer needed. Analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months on Google Analytics and in line with our PostHog plan's retention settings.

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email info@kerenlabs.com and we'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.

If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
